Advice please!!!!
Basically! I left my old part time job which I did for almost 8 years (it fitted around family life and wasnt a career choice) I started a new full time post around a month ago in my chosen profession which I trained for many years ago. But I hate it, the role isn’t what I expected there are many more aspects that weren’t discussed with me prior to accepting it. It’s so difficult and my gut instinct is that I’ve made a massive mistake. I cry almost every morning and dread a Sunday evening. The jump from part time to working full time has seriously affected home life. Going from 20 hours per week to almost 40 is proving difficult. I leave the house at 7am most mornings and sometimes not getting home till after 6pm. The kids have missed out in all their after school activities for the last month (which they aren’t happy about) as I’m getting home far too late and it’s basically it’s just a case of, dinner, homework and bed (kids are young and still in primary school) My Husband works away a lot and does long shifts when he is home.

I have seen a job advertised that is in exactly what I studied and trained in before I had the children but it’s only part time and term time also. I know I could do the work and it would make for a much happier work/family life balance. It doesn’t involve any of the work which I wasn’t advised about in this job.

My only concern is that even though I studied at college many years ago my actual only relevant experience in a role similar to the job advertised is the post I’m in currently, so my question would be. Should I put the job I’m Currently on the application as relevant experience and explain my reasons as to why I’m considering leaving so soon (mainly because the kids aren’t able to participate in their clubs and work/life balance is suffering from the jump from pt to ft work and that I underestimated how difficult it would be) do you think it’s a credible reason to say my work life balance is proving difficult after a month and a viable reason leave a post so quickly? Or should I just omit it from my CV altogether? Meaning I cant provide any recent work related experience as my previous job is in a completely unrelated field? I feel that honesty is the best policy but don’t want to look like I’m a job hopper. As I said I was in my last role for 8 years and post prior I was there for 10 years.

Thank you

Yes, I think it is reasonable to say that you feel you have made a mistake in taking a full time role (we all make mistakes) and that this is the reason you want to leave so soon. Your previous work history shows you are not a job "hopper".
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
