Good morning! Overnight I've had a bid on another eBay item, and now all 5 have watchers :j Ds1 is back to school after our week away so normal routine should kick back in here!

Today's tasks are mainly admin bits, with a little bit of cleaning and a lot of laundry thrown into the mix.

    Today's tasks

    1. Check YNAB and the accounts,
    2. Wash towels,
    3. Try and find the bottom of the laundry basket,
    4. Clean the toaster, kettle and other kitchen bits,
    5. Wipe down doors (it's amazing how fast they turn to look grubby!!),
    6. Check surveys,
    7. Eat healthily,
    8. Aim for a minimum of 5,000 steps,
    9. Put away all clothes,
    10. Clear kitchen table,
    11. Water flowers,
    12. Try on shoes that have arrived for a wedding next month and arrange a return for the pair/s that don't fit (I ordered 2 in different sizes),
    13. Contact Welsh Water to see why I can't access my online account,
    14. Browse life insurance quotes.
    15. Sign up to my pension account online,
    16. Check my teacher's pension account,
    17. Bake with ds1 after school.

Ds2 is super tired (read grumpy and clingy) so whilst he's munching on an early lunch before he goes for a much needed nap, I've decided to have a 'half way through the day' update!

    Today's tasks

    1. Check YNAB and the accounts, Done.
    2. Wash towels,
    3. Try and find the bottom of the laundry basket, The laundry basket is empty..........it's just a shame that the laundry is now sitting in the kitchen! I do have a load in the machine.
    4. Clean the toaster, kettle and other kitchen bits,
    5. Wipe down doors (it's amazing how fast they turn to look grubby!!),
    6. Check surveys, Done. 30 something pence on one today. I'm rich!
    7. Eat healthily, I found white chocolate. Only had a couple of squares (instead of the lovely mango I have in the fridge) for a snack.
    8. Aim for a minimum of 5,000 steps, Up to around 3,500 at the moment
    9. Put away all clothes,
    10. Clear kitchen table,
    11. Water flowers,
    12. Try on shoes that have arrived for a wedding next month and arrange a return for the pair/s that don't fit (I ordered 2 in different sizes),
    13. Contact Welsh Water to see why I can't access my online account, I thought I'd done it. I was being sent log in details through email, but still waiting around an hour later.
    14. Browse life insurance quotes. Done. It appears that we've got a good deal, so won't be switching
    15. Sign up to my pension account online, Done, and in the process of moving another small pension over to it
    16. Check my teacher's pension account, Done. I'm actually amazed at how rubbish it looks. I need to read into it a little longer, but I'm a little tempted to transfer it to my current pension which seems to be a lot better.
    17. Bake with ds1 after school. Have decided what we're going to bake, though did need to pop to the co-op for a tin of pineapples. Happily they were reduced, so 48p spent there

I'm one happy Mrs S this afternoon. Decided to take a walk down into town (tiniest town with very few shops) with ds2 in his pushchair and had a nose around the charity shop. I have been after a butter dish for ages (I mean years here) but have refused to pay the prices I've seen (around the £20 mark). I actually spotted one in this same charity shop about 2 years ago, but was being very frugal. I thought I'd sleep on it, if I still wanted it I'd then buy it. It had only been sold by the following day!!! Anyway, back to today. Off we went for our walk, into the charity shop, and there was a plain white butter dish. Just what I'd been looking for. £3.50. Not too bad a price so picked it up. Then went for a look at the children's books (20p each), and picked up 3.....1 for each of the boys and and extra for ds1 at a level he is not too far off with his reading. £4.10 for the lot. I went up to pay, and the lady looked at it all and said "that's a little dear. Give me £2.50 for the lot!". :j :j :j

Jackets are cooking for dinner, as well as the pineapple cake I made with ds1 after school. I don't do half as much baking as I could (I'd probably eat everything if I did), but think I should do a little more for the boys' snacks. The majority of our meals I cook from scratch but just not the sweet stuff. Will contemplate introducing baking to one of my days off during the week.

A little round up of today's poor attempts at my tasks. Ah well, tomorrow's another day.

    Today's tasks

    1. Check YNAB and the accounts, Done.
    2. Wash towels, Will do this tomorrow
    3. Try and find the bottom of the laundry basket, The laundry basket is empty..........it's just a shame that the laundry is now sitting in the kitchen! I do have a load in the machine. Aha........now all done!
    4. Clean the toaster, kettle and other kitchen bits, urrrrmmmmm..........
    5. Wipe down doors (it's amazing how fast they turn to look grubby!!), another one for tomorrow's list
    6. Check surveys, Done. 30 something pence on one today. I'm rich!
    7. Eat healthily, I found white chocolate. Only had a couple of squares (instead of the lovely mango I have in the fridge) for a snack. It got worse. I'm hormonal so we will leave it at that!!
    8. Aim for a minimum of 5,000 steps, Up to around 3,500 at the moment............Woohoo!!!!! Managed 10,000 :j
    9. Put away all clothes, I have added more to the piles!
    10. Clear kitchen table, Done
    11. Water flowers, Done. I usually do it with ds1 as they're 'his' flowers, but I forgot to remind him until he was in his pjs.
    12. Try on shoes that have arrived for a wedding next month and arrange a return for the pair/s that don't fit (I ordered 2 in different sizes), Neither fit. Grrrrrr. The most annoying part is that I paid for one of the pairs when I paid off the Next account at the weekend. Once the returns are back I'll decide whether to leave the money in the account for Christmas/a birthday/random clothes item or 2, or contact them and ask for it to be refunded. Refund is probably the most sensible option
    13. Contact Welsh Water to see why I can't access my online account, I thought I'd done it. I was being sent log in details through email, but still waiting around an hour later. Still nothing so will contact again tomorrow
Happily they were reduced, so 48p spent there........Done, tasted lovely and have plenty left!

  • Hi Mrs S. I'd definitely get advice before moving your TPS anywhere. My friend who works in pensions told me not to touch it without very good advice as it's a lot more secure than any private pension system. I'm still within the window (I think) that, if I went back into teaching within the next three years, I can return to the TPS on the same ts&cs as I had when I left.

I've joined my new workplace pension scheme. I'm contributing the grand total of £6 a month, which is not going to give me a super retirement, but at least it's something.

Thank you. I've heard that in the past as well, I'll definitely look more into it.
