Thank you Scott. I'm going to do quite a bit of reading into it before doing anything, and I am usually very risk averse so I'm not going to jump in and lose every penny I have!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500

Nsd 2 of the week in the bag :j it will be the last one of the week, so hoping for 3 or 4 next week.
Another busy day at work, but it means the day flies by!!! We're off camping again this weekend so I'll need to pick up some food/drink tomorrow. I'm aiming to get everything for tomorrow night/Sunday morning for £15. Mr S can then pay for the camping which will be around the same cost!
The shed I ordered last month has today arrived and been put together. I'm super happy with it (I think getting excited about a new shed is a sign of age :rotfl: ). It's pretty big so will actually be able to see what's in there now!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Ds1 went to a birthday party last night so my plan was he'd sleep in a little this morning. Not. A chance. I currently have both boys in bed with me colouring!
I've done my daily ynab and bank account check. Everything's looking good there. I have a really good feeling about July. The most difficult part will be when the schools break up and my holidays from work. I'm determined to stick to budget, though. I have a little money put aside for school holidays (but far less than I should due to rubbish savings throughout the year and a stupidly expensive June). I need to start thinking of budget activities to do!
I'm going to struggle sticking to £15 for the camping food today. I'll be buying alcohol as well, and did a quick add up last night and I'm currently coming in at around £15.47!! I'll see what I can do but it's not a huge overspend by any stretch of the imagination and I'm sure. After a quick check I actually have £15.49 in my camping pot. I may manage it after all :rotfl:Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
I went over budget by 46p, which happened to be the exact amount left over from this week's big shop. I went over due to lack of sleep which resulted in my brain not functioning properly. I picked up what I needed from Aldi, looked at how much I had spent and then worked out how much I had left to spend in Tesco. I calculated wrong. I was £1 out. :rotfl: I'm still pretty happy with bacon, sausages, burgers, rolls, strawberries, salad, beer, wine, g&t cans, rice, milk and a few snacky bits of just under £16.
I'm feeling shattered today, but it is my own fault. I've had a few late nights this week, and I don't cope well with late nights!!! Mr S had free time this morning whilst I had the boys to do what he wanted, and I have tomorrow afternoon for my free time. I think I'll sleep :rotfl:
Time to think about making some lunch and then packing a few clothes/toiletries and heading off for our camping night.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
A second camping success! We did take a walk to the local pub (just over half a mile away) and I did spent just under £7 there. How difficult was it to break into one of my £10 notes!!! :rotfl: They have been my only spends and that's why the money was there so I'm super happy :j
I'm working a full week this week now, covering holidays. I'm going to miss my Monday and Tuesday off! I'll be heading to the supermarket after work tomorrow with my £45 budget, and to take another £20 out of the account for this week's spends. I'm going to put the £10 note I have leftover to one side ready to put towards a pizza meal out with ds1 during the first week of the school holidays (his favourite food :rotfl: ).
I'm saving £2.50 (well kind of!) this week with school dinners as ds1 is going on a trip this Friday so will need a packed lunch. I'll move that to my 'leftover/extra money made' pot where I'm still (very slowly) working towards my £90! I'm to £11.55 at the moment, but I'm still feeling confident!! I've had a little survey payout of £5, which has helped towards this amount.
I made a lasagne after we got back from camping for tonight's dinner so have a portion set aside for lunch tomorrow. I think I'll cook up some pasta/sauce for a couple of other lunches tomorrow night.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Grocery shop day today. My total came to £42 something, so have just under £3 left over to add to the top up shop. I did forget to take my £20 entertainment money out of the bank to pop in my purse. Will have to remember next time I'm near a cashpoint. It does mean no other spends today.
I've batch cooked some pasta this evening ready for this week's lunches, updated YNAB and basically collapsed on the sofa :rotfl: I was late finishing work tonight, and have 4 more busy days ahead of me trying to catch up!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Apologies in advance for any typos - I'm on my mobile!!
NSD today. That makes 3 for July/12. I'm not convinced I'll reach 12 with the Summer Holidays around the corner, but I'm not sure!! Not giving up yet, though!!
I'm giving Welsh Water my final reading tomorrow and hopefully a decision will come about my bill and my direct debit payments from here on. I had an email from TV Licensing today with what my payments will be for the next year. Of course it has increased, as I know it will have for everyone!! I've adjusted YNAB to show the increase!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -

Yeah risk vs return
Bear in mind fees for managing the portfolio, selling shares you have to pay taxes on income, they are more of a risk, fca protection limits, etc etc etc0 -
That's Wednesday done with :rotfl: Today has been another nsd. I'm aiming for another tomorrow and I should be on target for my July total :j I just hope the school holidays don't make it too difficult!!
Welsh Water were supposed to phone me for a meter reading. They didn't, so I phoned them - 5 minutes before the closed. I want to get this sorted as soon as possible, and I had the meter reading to hand. I didn't fancy heading out to the spiders again tomorrow :rotfl: Apparently I should be receiving a letter soon (no idea what soon is!!!) telling me if I'm getting money refunded to my account, if so how much, and a plan going forward with my new direct debit amount. I hope that comes pretty soon now!
Right, early-ish night for me. I've had too many late ones, followed by early mornings! Not good!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
:j another NSD :j I'm pretty sure that makes 5 so far this month out of a target 12.
I am home alone tomorrow night so thought about a Chinese. There are 2 issues though. The first is the local Chinese is awful so I'd need to drive further afield to pick up a decent one but I have next to no petrol in the car. The second is that I want to take ds1 out for pizza during the first week of the holidays as a treat whilst ds2 is in nursery. Even with the Chinese I should be able to afford it, but it would leave very little entertainment money for the rest of the month. So......I've decided to take out some yellow sticker salmon from the freezer, and will make a stir fry of sorts with the salmon on top. Yum!! Far healthier and probably far tastier than a Chinese!!
Not much else to report. I've not done a top up shop, but may need milk before the weekend's out. I may treat myself to a bottle of wine too. I have just over £7 left in this week's grocery fund, so all within budget!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500
