Funding help for Private doctors?

Options
Hi, I suffer with ADHD and there are two particular medications I want to try that NHS ADHD nurses don’t prescribe currently. One is Dexedrine which I believe is available on the NHS and one is Adderall which isn’t. Both apparently are addictive and so that is part of the reason they don’t like to prescribe.
It will cost me £500 for an initial consultation with Dr. Giaroli in London who is an ADHD specialist. If I want Adderall then just for one tablet a day it will cost me around £480 a month!! I am pretty sure Dexedrine is available on the NHS though so following on from the inital £500, follow up appointments are £250. BUT at the moment I’m not currently in work. With ADHD being a pre-existing condition I have not been able to find a company to insure me to help fund these appointments. Does anyone here have any ideas? I’m desperate to find the right medication for me to get my life back in order as I’m a bit of a mess at the moment still. Any ideas how I could possibly fund this? They used to do a thing called a Community Care Grant that could help in exceptional circumstances. Now I believe they’ve changed that to a Community Support Grant which only helps with white goods like fridge, oven, washing machine etc.

Any advice much appreciated guys, thanks!

In short, no there is not any special funding. If you choose to go private, then you go private for everything. You would be better to ask for a review with your Consultant on the NHS, or ask your GP to refer you. I appreciate this might be a long wait, but realistically you are not going to be able to get dexamphetamine privately.

Even if you got insurance there will be a clause you can!!!8217;t claim on it for so long after taking it out.

What does your NHS GP say about it?

If there are good clinical reasons to prescribe it, I'm sure they could find some way to?

If there aren't - Then the same reasons would (or should!!) apply to you having it privately as well.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Really? How would you go about finding out when the clause comes into play?
I’ve just been told by multiple insurance companies flat out that it’s extremely rarely for any companies to insure for pre-existing conditions and that they wouldn’t help with that.
I was told by a lady about some minor funding scheme that she is signed up to but I really can’t remember any of the details. I was sure I wrote it down but can’t find it anywhere! If I remember correctly though it would’ve been a drop in the ocean with regards to Adderall costs on a monthly basis, which is what I was looking at at the time.

My NHS GP doesn’t really get involved with my ADHD. He referred me to a specialist Adult ADHD worker who tried me on a few of the weaker ADHD medications like Strattera, Methylphenidate and Elvanse which didn’t have the desired affect for me. I am looking for a medication that helps me focus and gets me feeling energized, activated, motivated etc. and I knew really going into those courses that they would probably not do all those things sadly.
She told me from the off that they couldn’t prescribe Adderall because it’s not available on her formula due to it not being on the NHS (I think because it’s manufactured in the US and the costs aren’t reasonable). Dexedrine I was also told that she doesn’t like to/doesn’t prescribe from day one too but I am almost certain that’s not the case for all NHS ADHD practitions. She only told me she doesn’t prescribe it because it can be highly addictive...

Haha yeah I guess. Only difference being I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid and Adult ADHD as an adult so I qualify for those meds!

I have many of the symptoms of fibroM plus back pain that I'm on this forum enquiring about. To be honest anything that can do all that sounds like it would fix me, but you do have to remember it's basically a class A drug which is extremely potent, and I know for a fact the street version really messes you up.

Wish I could help you with that bro. R you sure you’re on the right forum for that though? Is this not a money advice forum?
I’m sure if you soend long enough researching remedy’s for FibroM and back pain on Giogme you’d find something. You’d probably find forums specifically for those issues too! One thing I know can help any pain where ever located on the body is HgH. I've heard many stories of people having life-long or long-term pain yet after a month or so on a HgH course the pain almost completely disappears!
Good luck anyway buddy, hope you find the answers you need.
