Japan: train departs 25 seconds early, company apologises

The point where Japan, and most other countries, really shine compared to the UK, is with their national train network. It's state owned, state run, affordable, modern and efficient.

All it takes is a society that values the system sufficiently to invest in it. Here, the philosophy is "why should I pay for a system that's only used by others".

People in the SE run a surplus of £1700 per head. Almost everywhere else is a net drain.

If people in Scotland and the West Midlands can't understand why people who live in Brighton and work in Farringdon getting to work on time affordably is their concern, then the solution is just to reduce the amount London subsidises the provinces and spend that on Rail.

I'd agree, but committing to spend £50bn+ on a high speed route only a small percentage will benefit from, is not really 'sharing the benefits' is it?

Manchester and other places have shown that urban tram networks are popular. The trams are always rammed in peak time.

Don't they share the spoils more evenly?

As opposed to the Labour Party philosophy, which is "rob every bu99er else to pay for stuff I want but am too mean to pay for".

If you want to be a leech, say so - at least have the guts to own what you are.

In the 80s once I'd got familiar with my patch I could work out to the minute when I'd get from A to B in my car despite having none of that.

Life seems extremely simple for you.

Did you never have a single interuption on the way to work? Accidents, tree on the road, flood, congestion, roadworks? Nothing?

As for the German rail system I've found that to be brilliant, clean, on-time and cheap. Excellent example of a nationalised system.

It's amazing, really - these snarling entitled lefties demanding that stuff be paid for by other people then hurling abuse at us for actually doing so.

Here's a nice place run on leftist lines that whining Labour voters might like to immigrate into.

For some reason everyone seems to want to emigrate from the workers' paradise at the moment, and unfortunately for typically lazy Labour supporters, there'd be work to do to learn some key Spanish phrases:

La polic!a secreta me rompi! los dientes; ¿Puedes dirigir me a un dentista socialista?
The secret police have smashed my teeth; can you direct me to a socialist dentist?

Me complace pagar mil d!lares por un rollo de papel higi!nico
I am happy to pay a thousand dollars for a roll of toilet paper

Por supuesto, el estado puede tener todo mi dinero, el presidente puede gastar lo mejor que yo
Of course the state can have all my money - el presidente can spend it better than I can

Me qued! sin papel higi!nico ya que me obligaron a comer lo despu!s de que me qued! sin comida
I ran out of toilet paper as I was forced to eat it after I ran out of food

    - but it's worth it to live in the perfect society, comrades.

The Japanese don't particularly look like a load of communists to me, nor do I see much sign of motorists here paying the true cost of motoring.

LOL. The what? The "true cost" after you've made up some rubbish to justify robbing them? Like I said above, drivers are on the long, long list of people Labour really, really hates. Can't diddums afford a car?

What next - the Jews don't pay enough to cover the cost of all the police protection they now need, thanks to Labour legitimising, minimising and denying anti-Semitism?

You need to find a way to make it about the Jews, inshallah. It's all their fault and there are votes in it. Don't forget you lost Barnet council because of the Jews.

Have the tories reduced the cost of motoring then?

News to me if they have. labour did, in 2009 for many users when they changed the tax bands for, what was then seen as less polluting cars.

Have the tories reduced taxation on cars? Nope. And fact is, roads under the tory government are now in a worse state of repair than anytime during labours last reign (AA report).

Is there actually anyone whose money the left does not go snivelling after?

    Is being prosperous ever permissible?
