Lack of photo ID and mortgage application

Hi all,
We've just this past weekend put an offer in on a house and had it accepted. We're working with a mortgage broker on getting everything sorted with solicitors etc. However I've hit a bit of a roadblock...both the estate agents and broker need a valid form of ID, however I have nothing.
I have an out of date password (1 year 2 months out of date) and an out of date provisional license with an old address on. I have no documents from HMRC, DVLA or other government agency. The best i can do is post from the county council, such as a council tax bill.
Can anyone tell me if a citizen ID card such as this: citizencard.com would be valid for this purpose? It's a lot cheaper and quicker than my alternative options, I unfortunatley don't live anywhere near a passport office to get the fasttrack or urgent passport renewals done, and I really don't want to hold things up for 3 weeks waiting for a new passport.
Any other suggestions here?

A Passport will be useful and/or provisional driving license. You will need these when applying for a mortgage or using a solicitor for the buying process.
not sure if they recognise that particular ID card.
The key thing is will it be accepted for opening up a bank account? If not then no"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I had to get three brand new first passports for my children in February. All sorted and returned within 7days. I did one online and two as paper ones, I believe the online one came the day before the paper ones. As long as you know someone to sign the photos, it honestly shouldn't take tooong, and as yours would be a renewal I doubt it would take three weeks.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

Just renew your passport. Doesn't take long (you don't even need someone to sign the new photos unless you're completely unrecognisable from the old photos).0

If buying the house is that important to you then take the time to go and sort out your passport?0

Not to cast judgement or anything but I could never understand it when people have no valid Photo ID. Especially a driving license (full or provisional) considering how little they cost.Honest? Probably......sort of.0

A passport renewal will probably be really quick.
I did mine last August, so in the middle of peak summer holiday time, for a name change on marriage and it was back in a week using the normal service.
Two months ago my boss did his own plus two kids, and did one as fast-track (his own as he needed to travel for work soon), one check and send and one normal (as it was identical to the other one, twins!). They arrived back in three, four and five days respectively.0
