I personally find it helpful in 2 ways.
1. I can see exactly what the prize involves e.g travel without having to click on the link
2. Sometimes after a comp closes all reference to what the prize was disappears so if I was lucky enough to win I can see what the total prize was

I agree. It is very hepful to be able to see exactly what the prize is before you click on the link. Information like location and dates of events is helpful to decide if you can go or not.
Also, this helps out the person who originally posted the competition and may not have as much time to find and include this information.

I agree with Blue Nile & Crackerjack, I find the extra info extremely helpful. It's also not often easy to find the exact details of what the prize is as it's hidden at #24 of the T&Cs.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
