Dmp

How long before it gets easier, reading so many threads on here everyone seems to be doing so well on their DMP's.

Myself and hubby are still fighting with creditors, to accept our DMP. Which to be honest we expect them to take us to court for ccj's and charging orders.Just wish it would be sooner rather than later.

We have been on a Dmp since Apr, and it seems just as hard as at the begining . Sorry for rambling on,i'm on a downer today and needed to share.

    Hi cq.

Sorry to hear you are a bit down. I was lucky I suppose and all of my creditors accepted more or less straight away. Keep plugging away and i am sure your creditors will see sense in the end.
Dont know about it getting easier. Still at least it is not getting any worse.

    Good luck and take care

    Hiya
Me and my partner have been in our DMP since May with CCCS, it isnt easy at first i must agree. My partner is getting the brunt of the creditors wrath mainly from Northern Rock and First Plus, NR have already taken out a CCJ and we have appealed.
If you feel harrassed write them a letter stating you only wish to be contacted via letter or through your representatives (i.e dmp) A couple of names to be wary of are Red castle they are one of the debt collectors and there letters are very amusing. They also like to harrass you, they did with my partner at he's work and that is when we wrote the letter for them to stop.
You have your good days and bad days i certainly do and it takes a few months for the creditors to recognise your in a DMP. Just keep making them payments and that'll show consitentcy straight away....:o

Any time you receive a letter and they use technical jargon just ring up who ever your in a DMP with and they should advise you. They can't obtain a charging order till you have defaulted on your CCJ etc....but then you can have a reditermination hearing. I.e judge will either say no continue with your repayments or yes pay what the creditor wants. I'm yet to hear from Barclays ref my cash loan and M&S credit card, they have rejected my reduced payments and served a default notice. BUT all is too quiet at the moment so i don't want to speak too soon.

Please don't stress your self out too much, i did but have gradually learnt to play them at there own game. Everytime they ring i record there phone call so i have started a nice little collection especially of MBNA. :T

Join in on the DMP support thread your see me there and were all in the same boat.

Bye for now but chin up hun there's light at the end of that dark long tunnel :o

  • Sometimes it depends what company you're using for the DMP.
Creditors can be a bit more awkward if you're using a fee paying DMC, as they assume that you possibly have a bit more money because you can afford to pay fees to these companies.
Again, if you're going it alone, these could be intimidation/bullying tactics because you're (in their eyes) just a small individual & can possibly be cajoled into paying more.
Stick to your guns & do not offer more than you can afford to pay & try to treat all your creditors equally.
If you're with CAB, CCCS etc, then pass any correspondence onto them & they will advise you accordingly.
It's never easy at the start which ever way you do it & it can take several months & possibly up to a year for things to settle down.
