MSE Poll: How much are you worth (or do you owe)?

Options
Poll started 8 May 2018

Excluding your home or any student loans, how much savings (or debt) do you have? To answer the question, you first need to do a little sum:

1. Add up: the total value of your assets such as your savings & pension (excluding your home).
2. Subtract: outstanding debts - exclude student loans & mortgage (if you have a second property or buy-to-let include that in the sums though).

Then whether you've "net worth" or "net debt", pick your relevant option:

How do you value a pension you're receiving?

My occupational pension is by far my largest asset after my house.

How the heck am I supposed to figure out what my pension is worth?
I know what I will roughly get if I continue working for the next 26 years at the same pay, but I don't know what the pot is worth.

  • How on earth does somebody under 25 owe over £500k??? Troll or clicked the wrong button

In the absence of any other guidance I assumed each £ of pension was worth £12 cash which is what my pension scheme did when I retired.
