Old Style Daily Tuesday 8th May 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone :hello:
The sea air must have done me good yesterday I slept for 6 hours last night, the longest for at least a year
.
It was nice to go to the seaside yesterday, but it was so busy and we spent ages sat in traffic. We had a really nice meal on the way home though, so it was well worth it.
The forecast for this area is for much the same today so I don’t think that I will do too much. I find the heat quite draining, so a good excuse not to do any housework.
I think that I will make the most of the weather and the children back at school and get the train to another seaside town today and have a wander around. It will make a change from going to the local park.
My nephew has announced that he will be spending a lot of his summer break from university away staying with various different friends from university and this has upset my sister in law. He sent me an email yesterday asking for the email address of my cousin in Canada yesterday because he wants to see if he can visit him as well. I can see this turning into another family argument between them all.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I ended up working for much of yesterday as someone sent work to me for QA. Not my plan but she was on a deadline and at this stage, I don't much feel like refusing to do stuff just to make a point.
Back to the office today, looks like another sunny day so I hope that those who can, enjoy it!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Holly, good to hear you enjoyed your day out.
The twittering of birds woke me though I must have been in a light sleep phase. Usually a brass band can't reach me in a deep sleep.
No bright sunshine here. The forecast isn't too good either. I'm glad I did all my weed spraying over the past two days. The farmer's son has promised to cut my back lawn with the petrol mower, the grass is so long now and the ground is still soggy.
A local garden maintenance chap started to lay the membrane in the front 'garden' last night, great excitement on my part. Things are ticking along nicely now.
I've got my lone student this morning, will visit the bank after that and then I need to clean the fridge. A day of delights. :rotfl:
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Tuesday.0 -
Good morning chums and a lovely weekend .I went to a BBQ at DDs house and we really had a lovely time ,even though burgers aren't really my cup of tea I had chilli chicken instead which was extremely yummy and had our first strawberries and cream of the summer.
My youngest DGD Holly got engaged to her Tom
so both of my granddaughters OHs are called Tom
it will be Tom 1 and Tom 2.
But I am really pleased for her and wish them the very best.
Today I am hosting the U3A coffee morning at Dobbies so I always enjoy that as especially with the nice weather hopefully we will get a good turn out and the tonight its quiz night .DGS Ben has gone back to Norwich to Uni for the last 4 weeks before finishing his degree.
best news of all my Eldest DD has a job interview which she is hopeful for.She was made redundant with LEA reorganisation at Easter after 16 year so I am pleased she has this interview .After all the sadness at the beginning of the year with two family funerals yesterday's engagement news and this Thursdays interview hopefully means a turn around of bad things to good for a change.
The weather is looking good already and there is a perfect blue sky and bright sunshine, Hope everyone has a good weekend and maybe the nice weather will continue for a little while
Cheers chums

Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light and sun shining - warm already.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, he's hoping for pancakes this morning, which will use up the LO yorkshire batter. Dinner tonight will be gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas, I'll probably make up a quick bowl of potato salad.
Lunch yesterday was bbq, the boys did the cooking, we had chicken, burgers, sausages, flat mushrooms and I had some fish, and salad, was very nice.
Back to work today, not sure how it will be, we were quite busy Saturday and we've been shut yesterday, normally we're busy after a Bank hol - we'll see. Only have to work today and tomorrow then on days' off but am working again Saturday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Bright again here but rain forecast for later. I've had a good gardening weekend, grass cut, pots re-filled and I've started the dreaded removal of moss from the driveway. Anyone else have problems with moss in the block paving? I'll try to do an hour a day if the weather is ok, should be done by Christmas!
The cover went on the polytunnel at the allotment ok, only 4 of us but it wasn't too bad. I've managed to get a little greenhouse up there too as no one was using them. De-weeded it yesterday so it's ready for the tomato plants.
Everything not nailed down has been washed, dried and put back/away, even the ironing is done.
Hope you are all well and enjoying the good weather. Take care. XX0 -

LameWolf NCIS is about solving crime in the US Navy, Gibbs is the lead agent and is the person you want if you ever need rescuing. The strong, silent type. Watch it just for him, even if you don't like crime dramas

It's overcast this morning and there's a breeze. I hope it stays like this all day, I was flagging yesterday and need some of my energy back. Scampi would like to spend more time in the garden, he was irritated because I wouldn't let him out but if I let him, he'd lie in the sun til he baked

The shopping will be here at about 10am so I'll get as much housework done as I can before then. We'll go out after that – we always go late on shopping days because I hate having to keep an eye on time and rush back, if we're having a good walk I like to stay out as long as possible. I'll have a quick look at paperwork later, I don't think there's much so it probably won't be worth doing any today. More crochet then! I finished by bag yesterday so I need a new project.

Nice bright sunny day here again yesterday at work was very busy and the kitchen was so hot
we were melting and its only early in the year, I came home and had a cold shower and a glass of ice cold wine in the garden
Off to work again today it should be quieter as everyone is back at work / school.
Tacos for dinner tonight the mince is already cooked and in the fridge so just assembly to do tonight so a nice easy dinner.
Need to have a sweep through tonight and put a wash on.

Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all. It's sunny and warm again here - what a lovely few days we've had.
It will be the usual Tuesday for me, exercise class, bit of shopping, quiz tonight.
Yesterday we went to a local shopping outlet, and got a few bargains, I bought a lovely short trenchcoat for the summer, and DH got some trousers, plus a few other things. The place was packed.
Better get on. Hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks0 -
Good morning all,
Yes Camelot, I have moss..... Today's job is removing the moss from the grooves in the patio.
I enjoyed my day out yesterday so today is a cleaning day and hopefully a wash load hung out on the line if it stays dry. It's been so lovely and warm here it would be great if it lasted a bit longer. The HT is back at school today but at least it's a short week. He's just broken another one of my small plates, sigh. He's in a clumsy teenage phase I think.
I have no idea what we're having for our evening meal - I'll have a look through the freezer once he's gone to school. As I'm staying in I may make a small roast dinner because we didn't have one on Sunday.
Take care all of you
