I see adverts in the back of the tabloids that say they deal with this type of thing but dont know anything about them.

Don't even consider these. Sub-prime borrowing will be a sure ticket to increasing your problems.
Have a word with CAB, CCCS or National Debtline - They will assist you in drawing up a SOA (Statement of Affairs) and will advise you on the solution that best fits your situation.

I'm obviously krap with money mate but I wouldn't think going to someone like this would be a good idea. CAB are probably the best bet.

Do not touch any of these sort of companies. By the sound of things you are already in the sub-prime market and your payments are much higher than you can handle. You need to make an arrangment and possibleysell up as soon as your mortgage deal allows, retrench and save up but wait until you have been earning a decent salary for a while first.

Follow whizzy's advice and you might be OK. If you get involved with any of these repossession companies, you will just delay the day when you lose the house and they will charge you an arm and a leg for the privelege.

Speak to CAB or the National Debt line urgently. Alternatively try CCCS. Links ar at the top of the page. they all offer free impartial advice; they are not trying to make as much money out of you as possible.

The other thing you can do is put up a Statement of Affairs on here so that people can help you find was of coping.

Can you let out a room? Up to £4,500 pa tax free?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Hi just to give you an update, I spoke to Oakwood and have agreed to pay and extra £187 a month over 18 months to clear the arrears.

The person has contacted the legal team and they are going to go for that at the judgement hearing so hopefuly that will be it sorted.

Am in a much better financial position now with my partner moving in and helping me with the bills.

    Thanks for all your advice.

    Good

it may be worth putting up your SOA, so that people can point you in the direction of other savings that will make life easeir for you both.

Like - have you been getting the single persons allowance for CT (they will back-date it, just stop climing when GF moves in) and are you paying in 12 installments instead of 10, as most councils allow?

Just an idea when you have paid say 5-6 installements of the arrears then contact the company and ask if they will add the outstanding balance to the mortgage.....it may be possible if you pay on time and uphold your side of the solution.
  • Hi ArronAdam - welcome to DFW, you're definitely in the right place.

It would definitely be a good idea to post up your SOA - we might be able to help you release some extra cash so that you don't miss any of your new extra payments.
