Less than 2 years service, rights on redundancy?

I have only been at the company for 13 Months. In February we were informed that our jobs were at risk and we were all to go through a job matching process.
New roles have been created and a number of staff will be placed within these roles and some existing posts will remain.
I completed my preference form for roles in which I have over 15 years experience. As the process seemed to be taking a while, I emailed the project lead and the HR consultancy 3 times for updates. All were ignored.

Last week, I found out that a number of staff had been invited for interviews for various jobs but I was still waiting to hear.
On Thursday we all received a generic email listing the remaining vacancies. I called the project lead immediately for an explanation as I had obviously not been job matched and asked why I had not been informed. They said they were unsure of the days I worked and the reason I had not been job matched was because the salary of the job I was interested in is a lot lower than my current salary. I’m not sure this is a fair reason for not job matching.
We arranged for me to be interviewed for the lower job at some point (I’m still yet to have confirmation) however on the following day we all received an email stating there had been a mistake with the remaining vacancies and the original job i applied for was still available! So should I be considered for this?

I know that as I have not been here for 2 years, i have minimal legal rights, but I am still struggling to find this whole process fair, since I had not even been interviewed to show my skills and experience. Where do I stand on this, should I go for the interview when I feel disappointed, somewhat inferior and that I have been earmarked for redundancy as I’m the easy option?
Should I point out how unfairly I feel I’ve been treated?

Another query I have is that what notice period should I give, if I find other employment? Would it be contractual even if I’m being made redundant?

Many Thanks

If you want the new job then no. If you want this job then go along to the interview and be as positive as possible. It doesn't sound like the process is being handled particularly well, but the person hiring for the role most likely isn't interested in that, and they will not hire someone who comes along complaining about how things are unfair. You need to sell yourself.

If the salary for the role you want is substantially lower then I can see why they would not match you, as in a redundancy situation their obligation is to find a 'suitable' alternative. You're right to push for it if you want it.

As you say your legal recourse is minimal, so you need to suck it up.

Notice period is 1 week unless your contract specifies a higher one.

Applying redundancy rules has nothing to do with 'fairness', it is about abiding by government legislation on the subject. If legislation states that there is no entitlement to redundancy pay with less than 2 years service, that's the end of the matter.

Go for the interview - if you don't, then you can't get the job. You don't have to take it even if it is offered to you, but cutting off your nose to spite your face, although understandable, is pretty silly.

Should you point out how unfairly you feel you!!!8217;ve been treated? What would it achieve, other than temporarily making you feel better?
