Employment check bad credit

Hi I have very poor credit at the moment 2 defaults and many other accounts in arrears, that I’m unable to pay due to being out of work.
I have worked for a bank via a consultancy firm previously and I’m finding it very difficult to pass employment checks.
I was previously offered a role and signed a contract to work as a contractor for lloydsbanking. However the contract was removed due to my financial situation that the agency were fully aware of prior to giving me a contract.
Can I do anything about this?
I have also received another offer to contract for the police but I’m worried about the same thing happening again.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you do anything about the Lloyds offer - sadly not.
The police may be a different matter, depending on the type of role you will be undertaking. Your best bet is to be totally upfront with them (don't rely on the agency saying anything). If you are well suited to the requirements of the job, you could be fine. Do hope so.0 -
It's unlikely you'll pass the police check as your level of debt leaves you vulnerable to corruption. If those defaults turn to CCJs you've absolutely no chance.
It's a barrier you're going to keep coming up against. You're going to need to look at other fields until you can improve your financial situation.0 -
Attempting to get into financial work when you have a string of bad debts is going to be extremely difficult because you will be deemed 'potential high risk'.0
