Not sure what more anyone can add without clarification.
I did not believe it anyway.
Who on earth would put £10,000 in someone’s account, especially after only six months?Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Might the executors be able to help prove the money is hers? As in cheque number, amount, date issued, date cashed (all of which should be on record), which would put some pressure on the bank to move the sum to the "correct" account?
But CAB, small claims, women's aid etc definitely - £10K is a lot to loose touch with.0 -
OP, in addition to pinkshoes' advice, I'd also advise that if you've got evidence showing the transfer (bank statement, for example, and I hope you transferred the money to your ex using a traceable method).Lots of pessimistic responses, but you can either TRY and get it back or just give up.
Personally I would try...
You need to WRITE to him, sending it with proof of postage asking for the money back within 28 days, otherwise you will take legal action to retrieve the money.
Dear <EX>,
On DATE I inherited £10000 from PERSON.
As I am not good at managing money, you suggested that it would be sensible if the money was put in your bank account. This was done on DATE.
As we are no longer together since DATE, I now require this money returning to me.
Please return the full amount of £10000 to me via bank transfer within the next 28 days.
If this money is not returned within the 28 days, I shall start legal proceedings to retrieve the money via the courts.
This is a letter before action sent 1st class with proof of postage, so will be deemed served from (date two days after posting)
Kind regards,
YOU0
