Joint Mortgage or Solo? Financial link

Hi All, was pretty much set on going ahead with a joint mortgage with my partner until i heard it creates a financial link which can affect my own credit in future as in if i do an application for a credit card for example.

they can also search my partners and use that before making a decision is that correct? and is it a regular thing for lenders to do?

although her record is good etc and having been through divorce and stuff before in the past, who knows what the future holds. is it a wise move? should i save the extra deposit required and just do a solo application? what are peoples thoughts? have anyone of you on here had any issues from a joint mortgage later in life? etc.

only reason i worry is my credit record is excellent atm and ive worked hard to get it that way.

Many Thanks

Lenders will credit check all applicants - thats the norm.

If your planning a life with your partner then I wouldnt worry about creating a financial link to buy a home together in-case they miss a few payments on their possible future credit card.
