Sign off meeting...

Anyone had any experience of a sign off meeting?
I have received a verbal job offer and now have to attend this meeting
With the company HR manager.
I have no idea what to expect. Is it like another interview?

    I've never heard of a sign off meeting, but I'd guess it's about signing some documents, giving you some information, agreeing to a start date and so on.

    Neither I nor any other random off the internet can possibly know for certain, so why not ask the company direct?

    In terms of playing a guessing game, it's possible that company policy states that someone from HR needs to be involved in the recruitment process and/or attend one of the interviews. If this hasn't happened to you, then they're playing catch up, and this meeting is merely for the purposes of box ticking, or so that they can 'sign off' that they've followed the correct process. It may involve some HR drone asking some pointless competency-based questions (what are your greatest strengths and weaknesses? tell me about a time you've had to deal with conflict in the workplace etc) whilst they know nothing about the job you're actually going to be doing. Or it could involve seeing copies of documents which prove your qualifications, right to work in the UK etc. Or it could involve giving you induction materials to read through before you start. Or to actually sign your contract of employment. Or anything else they can think of....

    So - have you actually asked them, and if not, why not?
