Ok. Nothing I said suggested that I !!!8216;splurged out on a bunch of stuff!!!8217;.
In my original post I simply asked a question. Prompted by the constant marketing that we are all bombarded with these days.
I!!!8217;m not and never have been litigiously minded - I just wondered what people thought.
I!!!8217;m grateful for the responses but there really isn!!!8217;t a need to include such an unfounded judgemental tone.

OK, so if the money wasn't "splurged" what then is your actual complaint? That someone gave you a borrowing facility , and because you used it on items you needed and werent a waste at all, they should be penalised????

No complaint. I asked a question. Using the appropriate number of question marks.

I remember my first mortgage with Nationwide back in 1997,

They required something like £250 for their 'scheme for maximum advances' which was an insurance policy that benefited them alone if we defaulted and no overpayment allowed for 5 years although the promotional rate ended after two.

    How times change.
