I had the letter too. The fact that the ICO are looking into the matter suggests that something untoward has gone on.
I haven't taken up the Experian offer yet, but I guess I should. I don't think this is adequate compensation for the inconvenience and it seems a little unfair that I need to keep an eye on my credit report in case the data they sold gets into the hands of someone who wants to use it fraudulently.
OK, its my information, but I wasn't the one bandying it about to all and sundry.

I received a text message today trying to offer me a "any amount, any circumstances" loan. The text did not say who they were and it just said to reply to the text to apply. It came from a normal mobile number which was 07973413548.

I put the number in google and all that came up was a classified advert from some guy called "Mark" who is selling a Mercedes and this mobile number was listed as the contact phone. Also the same name and number pops up for a luxury holiday Lodge rental in Newquay.

Amyone else had this text message?

I take it his dealings are not per FSA guidelines.

they have sent me a no compensation letter lol i have now threatened them withthe courts so will let you know as soon as, it will be hard because how much is your identity worth how do you evaluate your loss:mad:
