Hi there, I've just finished a seasonal job, and haven't recieved any form of holiday pay I'm wondering if I am entitled to some.
Here's My Situation:
I'm 17 and I've been working from around easter earning 3.75, i'm still at school so during term time I've been working around 10 hours at the weekend. In the summer holidays I was working around 40 hours, I haven't signed any form of contract. I also worked on bank holidays if this effects anything?
Would be grateful if someone could clear up my position! Thanks in advance, Mitch.

Hey Mitch
Your age has nothing to do with your holiday entitlement. The stat minimum (from 1st Oct) is 24 days per annum INCLUDING BH's.
If you are a casual worker then I think the usual is to *earn* 1 hour for every 13 worked.
You need to call the HR or payroll department to discuss oz it sure seems you are owed holiday pay.

Unlike the national minimum wage, your entitlement to paid holiday isn't less if you are 17 than if you are 22.
From Easter to 30 September you would have been accumulating statutory holiday entitlement pro rata at 4 weeks/year. For the period from 1 October to the time you left it would have been at 4.8 weeks/year.
If you were not paid any holidays during your employment, you should have been paid your accrued holiday pay when you left.
There is no need for you to have signed a contract for you to have one. The fact that you worked and they paid shows one existed. You should, though, have received some written particulars of your employment from the employer and this should have included mention of holidays.

Like Little Voice said, your gonna be owed holiday pay. Get in touch with the HR dept and query it. Ask them for an employee contract too because you need to know all the things about your role and entitlements/responsibilities/union membership etc etc.0
