Mortgage company said we could have claimed on our insurance after repossession?

Hi

I have a question so my husband got a letter from bank after trying to claim for misselling on PPI telling him they don't believe it was missold etc etc but also saying that he could have claimed on his insurance when we were told at the time it didn't cover him as he was self employed and couldn't get enough work to cover the mortgage eventually leading to repossession. So surely the bank should have advised we could have claimed on our insurance at the time instead of repossessing? Does anyone know if the bank is at fault here for taking our home when our insurance could have been claimed on?

Told by whom? Have you checked for yourself what the policy says?

In which case tell the bank they're talking rubbish.
