Should I pay off my offset mortgage

So, I have a 70k offset mortgage with about 26k to pay off. I recently was left some money and now have over 40k in the bank. I am mid 50s, don't own any other property and I can easily afford the current mortgage payments. But should I pay off the mortgage entirely or is it better to stay "as is" OR should I pay off most of the mortgage and keep the option of getting easy credit from the lender open.
I am confused!

I had to close my offset mortgage a while back (was moving but had a gap between houses so couldn't port the mortgage). I bitterly regret not doing everything I could to keep it open. Unexpected change in circumstances means that I'm now not able to get another mortgage, and as ex took all my savings (divorce) am now stuck not even able to raise money to fix the roof. So my advice would be to put enough into the offset that you don't pay any (or little) interest, then keep it open.0

If you are mid 50's any money you put into a pension can be accessed if you would like to. What is your current pension position?0
