I had to call a free phone no to regiser, so i thought ok will see where this goes... spoke to a girl who congratulated me and said mew and my husband needed to come to a 2hr no obligation presentation to get told all about our holiday choices.... i asked for a catch and she advised of a £29.50 booking fee per person but that was all... Does anyone know if this is a real win or a scam?? company is called clc hotels and resorts

We have been phoned about twice a year with the announcement that we have won holidays and I always say no thanks because
A.I havent gone in for any competitions for winnning holidays and
B. They are usually timeshare people trying to sell you timeshare places.
I have heard that they also sting you for things like insurance costs...0 -
If you had won a holiday you wouldnt have to pay any kind of fee. My guess is it's a timeshare company. Don't send any money off.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Don't touch it with a bargepole!!!
Whoever heard of winning a prize that you have to pay to register???? As mentioned before, they usually are timeshare when you get there, and you have to go to long meetings where the sales people wear you down until you give in!
I've "won" a fair few of these this year and always tell them "I'm not daft" before hanging up!

I had the same phone call from that company. We were very sceptical............ we went the 2hr presentation in Birmingham to hear what they had to say. It can get very hard sell, but just keep saying no..... thats all that we did.1 thing i will say is you have to be very flexible with dates if your booking it tho . Its not really for the "got to have kids holidays "etc. Btw its not timeshare but holiday share.
We went to Tenerife in May and i can honestly say it was fantastic. The apartment was huge, the complex was very clean, very accomodating. Overall i would give it 9 1/2 out of 10. We had to have another tour when we got there with the rep, but all we did was have free breakfast, tour around the island and then said thank you but no thanks.
Dont think that just because your in their complex they bother you..... far from it. We only saw the rep once. You just get left alone to enjoy your holiday. I would deffo do it all over again...... Go fot it :T It only cost us £105 in total for a week in Tenerife, and if your really cheeky speak to them about 2 wks before you go and you'll get free transfers awell.
And just remember......... everyone can say no... just depends how strong or weak you are lol0 -
YES, this sounds like a scam. I was invited to one of these years ago, which turned out to be a timeshare scam. I was liable for a 'fee' as well.
I didn't go to the presentation.
If it were me, I'd leave it well alone.
You might want to talk to your local Citizens Advice Bureau, if you think you might want expert advice.
Hope this helps.Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

Hmmm I've had this too - I was told I had to attend a presentation and pay for my own flights funny though as soon as I said that I was divorced they ran a mile.
If its a free holiday then the flights would be included and there'd be no fee to pay. Its a scam.0 -
It's amazing how not many of you have actually been to a presentation but have so much to say about them. I'm not in anyway defending these companys only sharing my experience with CLC. If you want a really really cheap holiday (£100 for a week in the sun) then this is for you.
All the people we spoke with on the complex said they couldnt fault the accomodation which they offer.
As for reps like i said we had 1 afternoon and still said no. If you do decide to go i would reccomend you go to the introduction morning on the complex. It has nothing to do with the timeshare/ holiday share what ever you want to call it. They give you some really good offers on trips/spas, talk about the area. We went dolphin watching for a fraction of the cost it would have been if we booked it ourselves. My partner went sea fishing while i went to the spa...... which was about £4 because i was with CLC. All fancy things but we still said no lol0 -
Its a scam. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

Went to a presentation today on behalf of Hospitality Scotland and Club De La Costa.Had received a phone call to see entered a comp but had NOT won but could receive this offer. Get a £25 vouvher for MandS and we got a holiday where we have to pay admin and airport costs totalling £80 each. Had looked this company up on internet first and mixed reviews. No hard sell while we were there just said we couldnt afford it and they were fine, though did get moved out of the room pretty quickly after that! Think worthwile to go as long as your firm when saying no! At least get a cheap holiday. Told them i worked in money management as well which also seemed to put them off!:j0
