i went with bt broadband option 3 on a 12 month contract. first 3 months at £22.99, remaining 9 months at £24.99, £40 cashback through quidco, hopefully £50 through barclays too, sold the free home hub and phone on ebay too.

if all the cashback goes through ok it works out to £14.49 per month :)
  • Sorry not to put a downer on things but personally I would avoid BT at all costs! If you get a problem with your account/line it will probably take you a week to get through to them after which you will get someone who cannot help and will then be passed from department to department because no-one knows how to sort anything!

I know its a bit of a rant but martin has loads of advice on getting really good deals and even he suggests BT is not the way to go. I dont know if its of interest but talktalk, tiscali and virgin all do bundles for phone and broadband which often work out cheaper. Obviously I am talking from my own bad experience but having read many posts from other unsatisfied customers I thought it best to share.

i'm really pleased with bt so far. i was with virgin up to 8mb for about 3 months, ended up getting about 50k-500k speeds so they let me cancel without having to pay a cancellation fee due to the unacceptable speeds. with bt i am getting 5mb-6mb and can't fault it!

i am not sure if you have to be a barclays customer or not. (i am)
  • I'm intrested in this also, when my aol subscription 12 months runs out i want to move to BT. Before you tell me not too my reasoning for this is for the BT Fusion and the BT vision stuff. Do you think i'd get a better deal if i try to take them out all together or would i be better off doing them individually.

I really fancy the BT Fusin now that they have teamed up with the FON community as it means when I'm at a friends on BT broadband i'll beable to recieve incomming calls and make cheaper calls. My friend stays out in the sticks so mobile reception is poor at best on any network.

I also like the ability to use openzone connections on my laptop when i'm out and about.
