A major Japanese TV network (TV Tokyo) purportedly wants to use one of my YouTube videos for one of its programmes. They've asked me for my rate.
Anyone know where to begin to handle such a query?

ask for their max offer instead?0

I sent a request for a reasonable offer and they've asked if 500 US dollars okay?0

I'm asking for advice on how to respond to their $500 offer.
Surely this is entirely up to you? Do you feel that your youtube video is worth $500? I would make them pay you in £'s at least, else Im guessing you will need to convert it which will cost you.
Personally if someone offered it for one of my videos, I would bite their hand off, but it does depend on your content and how many views you already have - if you are getting 6 figures worth of views then you might want to ask for more.
I'm not really sure this is the right forum for the question, though. Surely there are forums where youtubers discuss such things?Debt: May 15: £17335 Jul 16: £13874 Jan 17: £11,606 Dec 18: £8,308 Sept 19: £4,969 Jul 21: £890

I've asked on several forums, including what appears to be the main YT forum. The video has 77,000 views - I'm tempted to take the money and run, pending further advice.0

Assuming you've monetised the video, I always reckon 10 views is worth 1p in advertising - so 77k views would be £77 so their offer seems very good.
It's a no-brainer if they don't want exclusive rights to the video, if they do it's still a very good offer.
You could obviously use the $500 as a starting point for negotiations but don't get greedy or they may walk away.
All my opinion of course.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
We've agreed £400 for 13 seconds - wonder should I re-monetise it on YouTube?0

Well my Youtube channel has 1,400 total views (I'm not doing it very seriously) - and is estimated at a value of 5p.
I would say take the money and run to be honest...77,000 views isnt that many.Debt: May 15: £17335 Jul 16: £13874 Jan 17: £11,606 Dec 18: £8,308 Sept 19: £4,969 Jul 21: £890

I was wondering about monetising it as there may be further views after the TV broadcast.0
