Settlement agreement followed by gross misconduct

Hi, hoping for some advice please.
My company is closing down and everybody is being made redundant and we have all signed settlement agreements.
However, I have since been suspended for "gross misconduct".
We were having a constructive discussion about Stephen Lawrence and a number of people were saying that the police are institutionally racist. I pointed out that statistically black people are more likely to commit crime in London, than white people, and backed it up with figures from the gov.uk website.
Can they sack me for this? I was merely stating a fact. Also can they get out of the settlement agreement that is already signed?
I think that is a racist comment.
The statistics do not show that black people are more likely to COMMIT crime, the MOJ stats show a higher proportion have been ARRESTED and/or PROSECUTED. Not the same thing.

you dont get arrested for doing nothing...
And therein, is why you've lost your settlement agreement and facing gross misconduct charges.
Good luck at the job centre.

by stating another fact? if the police started arrested every tom !!!! and harry for no reason other than they felt like it, there would be uproar0 -
I really shouldn't but that did make me laugh. However, very inappropriate and highly likely to cause offence.
When I see some of the extreme eyebrows around these days, Count Duckula would be polite. I wonder if some of these girls actually look in a mirror in daylight!
I saw one girl recently who was, to be polite, 'well rounded', she was also on short end of the height spectrum. Add to that she was 'glow in the dark' orange from the home tan. Looked just liked an escaped Oompa-Loompa.0 -

Care to post a picture of yourself so we can all comment and pass judgement?0 -
worth noting as well that the person who complained has also said that i have made comments about her eyebrows, hair, face which has left her feeling stressed and upset...
... i made ONE comment about 4 months ago that her eyebrows (which are painted on) make her look surprised, like count duckula. Certainly havent commented on anything else, nor do I dislike her.
So you've insulted the girl previously, "got away with it" presumably, but have given her ammunition with your "black people" comment.
You cant just insult people and dismiss it as banter because it suits you to. Nor can you make any comment that could be construed as racist and expect there not to be consequences.
I think the girl you made fun of is definitely having the last laugh....0 -

Is that right. Black people are statistically more likely to be stopped and searched and subsequently charged than their white counterparts for the same offence.
So the white guys did nothing? No they just weren't profiled to be stopped.0 -
