Recommend an Umbrella Company or Accoutancy service for Ltd.

Does anyone have recommendations for an umbrella company for an IT contract software engineer? I am also looking at the Ltd. option so again, any recommendations for online accountants that will handle the necessary?

I think the general view on here is that umbrellas are a Bad Thing - suggest you search on the term for previous posts.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • Umbrellas are not a bad thing at all - as thousands of IT contractors use Umbrella companies.

Maybe there are some that tarnish the umbrella name in different sectors. It is making sure you use a reputable Umbrella company. And ignore anyone that promises you to save lots of tax. The tax deductions should be the same across a number of umbrella companies. Check out Contractor UK for some reviews.

I can vouch for Contractor Umbrella in Colchester who have used before and excellent customer service.

Re Accountants - you dont need an online accountant - again you need a reputable contractor accountant. I would recommend choosing an accountant that uses freeagent or similar software as this makes running a limited company easier. A Ltd will mean better take home pay so depending on your contract this is advised. A contractor accountant will likely cost you less than £100 p/m - anything more is OTT.

FWIW There are some recommendations here if that is useful.
