It will take more than a couple of weeks to show up on her online a/c. Suggest you keep checking back until the new year. If (say) nothing appears by the end of Jan than chase again.

Thanks DQ, I thought it might be a bit of a system delay. It was just because the 2016-17 appeared you would *think* that everything would update at the same time (i.e. a delay but once processed everything appears iykwim).

We'll keep an eye on the account and chase HMRC if need be :-)

It takes them a while to allocate the payments to the relevant previous years. In my case (and after 2 years of querying), they eventually got close enough for me to not bother with the few quid here/there. I suspect that your mum's record will update correctly by the end of this tax year. i assume that she stated the specific tax years when she remitted the payment?

She did indeed, and HMRC’s reply also confirmed the years allocated and paid.

    Thanks again!

Just to confirm my mum's NI record has updated overnight and is now showing all the years credited and her state pension forecast has also updated.

She now only needs 2 years to make the full pension (though really only 1 and then she'll be just under £1 per week off the max).

Thank you to everyone for your help with this. When I first posted we were looking at paying circa £700 for each year. Thanks to you my mum has now paid at Class 2 rates of around £140 per year so a massive saving!

    Thanks again, everyone!!
