There are horror movies that rely purely on gore, and there are horror movies that scare you with tension and atmosphere. 1982’s Poltergeist fits firmly in the latter category, as the Freeling family begin experiencing a series of bizarre, supernatural goings-on in their house, centred on the five year old daughter, Carol Anne.
To mark the film’s 25th anniversary, a special Deluxe Edition DVD has been produced, boasting a digitally remastered and restored version of the film and a two-part documentary on the real world of poltergeists. The Poltergeist 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is out now on DVD, RRP £16.99.
