  • Hi JedKnightWarrior,

Thanks for that. I'd be interested to try the same experiment. Let you know.
  • The more of these websites that offer cashback the better!

Anyone using these websites should have already done their homework and know which mortgage they want.

The only other thing that I want to know is which one will give me the best rebate!

..or should I assume there are other factors that I need to consider? All seem to authorised and regulated by the FSA.

There are various elements to processing a mortgage.. research and assessing correct suitability to consumer needs and lenders criteria can be time consuming .. " no advice sites" avoid this, to gether with some of the "responsibility" that goes with it, as well as the travelling and interview time.

In fairness I think getting just 50% of the commission is in some cases is a bad deal for the consumer, - especially the larger cases - I have been known to offer rebates on a full service option... perhaps time for a price war on
    " no advice cases" -

I think it could be done on a flat £ related deduction rather than just a % ... leaving the % type firms with all the smaller cases, that earn them less .. but hey they can't complain - "it's all about consumer choice!"

  • Hi again.

I heard back from Money 4 u. He confirmed the commission was correct and told me how to go about submitting. Overall I was satisfied with the response, but actually think I am going to go through an advisor anyway and let them keep the full commission. I don't really have the time to go through all this to save a few pounds.

On a side note, I have been unhappy with some of the comments on this thread, although most have been helpful. MBM (you obviously must be from Money Back Mortgages) seems overly keen to quash the attempts of a competitor. I must admit I don't like the back-biting.

Also, JediKnightWarrrior's comments give cause for concern regarding Money 4u mortgages. Although I must admit, I'm not convinced that he and MBM are not one in the same. (If you're not, then sorry!) You also just seem a bit overly keen to get a quote from him, find an obscure thread on a financial forum, then sign up and have a go at them on your first posting?

Anyway, thanks to all! (I have put the bloke from Money 4u onto this thread.)
  • Unlike barbersfort I decided to use a cashback website and am posting back out of courtesy.
After comparing the rebate calculators for Money4uMortgages and MoneyBackMortgages I decided to use Money4uMortgages as their rebate came out slightly higher for the same product (eventhough both claimed to give back 50%). I just recieved my cheque and am happy with the result.

Commissions may have been net of network deductions. Or they may have negotiated different commission rates.
