West Yorkshire rail zone question

Ive got an annual train pass that allows me to travel in zones 2-5 in West Yorkshire. 99% of my travel is in these zones so thats fine, however occasionally one train i get goes via zone 1 (i dont leave the station, i just jump on another train there and go to my destination in zone 3). Seeing as im not actually getting off at a zone 1 station and just getting a connecting train, can i use my train pass or not?

If you travel via zone 1, then you need a pass that covers zone 1.
Your pass is not valid for travel via zone 1.0
