Court letter - money request!

Hi there,
I’ve been given bad advice to ignore a Parking Eye fine, which I did, and following several scary letters, i have now received a money request from the courts of well over £300. This is a genuine letter from the courts.
Do I have any options at this point, other than to pay the money demanded?
Thanks for your help. Yes I know I’m an idiot and should have read the newbies post BEFORE not responding!!

Is it a claim or a ccj?
If it's a claim then spend time familiarising yourself on this in the Newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum. #2
If it's a ccj issued in default following you ignoring previous court correspondence then you probably have no alternative but to pay0 -

It really is the only way to stop this rubbish coming out from Bob the Gob, the pub expert and his cohorts. Let us know what they say. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
