Best fungal nail treatment

  • From the Wikipedia page, it doesn't look as though potassium iodide has the same properties as Lugol's iodine.
Not sure if the iodide stuff is an ‘alternative’ treatment or legit. I think it’s gonna have to be either one of these varnishes or ‘snakeroot’ which has also been recommended as per https://nailfungus.co.uk/nail-fungus-treatments/#snakeroot-oil

All very complicated when I just wanna treat my unhappy nail 😂
  • Anyone who has nail fungus knows it's very difficult to get rid of and takes forever and it can come back so quickly without consistent, regular attention, i.e. scrupulous washing at least every day, preferably twice daily; ensuring toes and nails are completely dry (hair-dryer is good); clean socks every day, as much air to feet as possible, no sweaty footwear, and so on and so on. I've tried everything prescribed, orally, topical creams, paint on stuff, ad nauseum...

After more than 12 years what eventually worked for me was hydrogen peroxide 9% diluted 50/50 with water and applied all over the nail and down the sides and under the nail. I used and still use this, applied with one of those plastic stick applicators that come inside the Curanail box. I don't think it ever goes away completely, especially if you live in a temperate climate and need to keep your feet warm by wearing socks and shoes/slippers. It's become a regular habit, rather like brushing your teeth or washing your hair...

Lots of recommendations all over the internet, google, youtube.... methinks it's a matter of trial, error, patience, persistence, (and no open-toed sandals! :). Shame they don't make false toenails like they do fingernails. Maybe there's a gap in the market?

Good luck to all fellow 'fun girls' (pun intended, of course...)

    Customised false toenails do exist…
  • I had a nail infection, was prescribed two courses of antibiotics (21 days in total), didn't clear up.  Three weeks later just by chance I read about tea tree oil, must be 100%.  I bought some from Body care, under £2.  Put it on my cuticles every evening  it smells, but it worked.  Now, it could of been I'd still got some antibiotics in my body who knows, but after about a week of using infection went.
