Urine test sample

Not sure if right board to post but here goes:
Visit to doctor today, asked for urine sample, typical I couldn't go, so they said take it home and bring it back.

Will be dropping off Monday morning on way to work, now for my question, it's strange.

I only have the tube, should I have had a plastic bag also to place tube in? I mean you have patients waiting behind and around me. I walk in and just hand in a tube on it's own with a urine sample, maybe it's just me I don't know.

I've only ever just been given the tube. When I had to give a 'fresh' sample in the surgery I had to walk across a waiting room full of about 40 people with it! There is nothing stopping you putting it in a bag if you are embarrassed. I assume your details are already written on the tube so you don't need any other paperwork etc?

The plastic bags are clear anyway. Pop it in a bag if you want but there's no need, and no need to be embarrassed or anything. We all wee.

Just think at least its not a stool sample! I honestly don!!!8217;t think anybody will bat an eyelid, as long as your details are on the pot that!!!8217;s the main thing.

I must admit I put mine in a bag (more because I'm paranoid about it leaking, not that it ever does!) The receptionist at my surgery puts a box on the counter and asks you to drop the sample tube in, she doesn't touch the tube itself. I can understand that, I'd not want to be touching everybody's urine sample containers.

I've taken samples to the Doctors before. I put it in one of our food bags :D Handed it over the counter and the receptionist just put it on the desk at the side of her :D I guess they have seen it all before and if they haven't they need to get used to it.
