    Ah, the efficiencies of "contracting out". When I got my deficiency notices in the 1980s I paid them if I had spare cash, but also ignored a couple. Looking back on my online NI record I was surprised to see how many contributions I had from the sixth form years and university years, it was a nice surprise.

    Looking back on my online NI record I was surprised to see how many contributions I had from the sixth form years and university years, it was a nice surprise.

    Until 2010 (when the qualifying years for a full state pension was reduced), everyone was automatically creditted with the years they turned 16, 17 and 18
