Do I need a DBS check?

Didn't know where to put this so I thought I would try here...
I have a great interest, and a fair bit of knowledge, in certain aspects of wildlife. A teacher from a local Primary School has asked if I would give a small talk to one of their classes about hedgehogs. I have never done anything like this before but would be happy to help them, but not sure if I would need to be DBS checked in order to do this, although obviously it would be in a classroom environment with the teachers present etc.
I work in law enforcement and currently have SC Clearance, but was DV until my job changed a few years back, so clearly I have no security or criminal issues so don't mind being DBS checked but of course I guess it would cost me - hence posting in the MS forums!
Any and all advice appreciated as always...

And if the school did want you to be DBS checked, they should pay.0

It's normally free for people in volunteering roles.General_Grant wrote: »And if the school did want you to be DBS checked, they should pay.0 -
It's only needed if you are actually left alone with vulnerable adults or with children.0
