I am not in debt but to keep on track of my budget I update my spending spreadsheet every morning with spends from the previous day and calculate how much of my budget I have left for the month.

This month I have overspent on food (due to visitors), home improvements due to DH insulating the garage/workshop and underspent on entertainment. Booked our holiday for September so I know how much monthly we need to save to reimburse holiday account.
