ADVENT 8315 LAPTOP
PC World Recommends Windows Vista® Home Premium
The new Advent 8315 is great value, with a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 processor, allowing you to run multiple applications simultaneously. The 8315 is packed with top features including Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium, 2GB memory and 120 GB hard drive.
Is this a good deal anyone? Are the features good for the price? If anyone could offer me any advice I'd be grateful.

Anyone that knows about PCs recommends Windows XP :rotfl: .
OK, the stats look good. It's dual core, so it works twice as quick as a "normal" laptop, RAM's good. I've seen larger Hard Drives (but this is easy to change).
I'd go for it, but I'd haggle to either knock the price down, or get some freebies. Is the free printer option available with this?Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Ok, I know this is an old thread, but just because it's Dual Core, it doesn't mean it works twice as quick as a "normal" laptop. The purpose of dual core is to enable the computer to run 2 processes simultaneously, where a standard single core can only run a single process at any one time.
Not all programs are designed for Dual Cores and therefore, not all programs utilise this function in the CPU.
We are now seeing quad core CPU's (although, not yet in laptops), but just because it's quad core, it doesn't mean it runs 4 times as fast as a single core or twice as fast as a dual core.0
