CRB checks for the goverment

Hi i hope someone can help
i have applied for a I.T position for a high up department of the goverment and as such they will be doing a CRB check and ask me to mention anything that may be on it
problem is about 5-6 years ago i had some rubbsh firends and long story short had the police take me to the station (i think they gave me my rights) relating to a recent theft. however i was completely innocent and my loser firends had tried to drag me into it, anyway the police cleared me after a brief interview and nothing further was said
but im now nervous as to whether this would be picked up as no charges were pressed as such and wondered how some people i have read on here are looking up their own CRB's?

As far as I know, if you were cleared (no caution or anything else) then you should be fine.
  • thanks for the reply Ruby, even on an enhanced check, i read somewhere that even small things stay on there for like 10+ years?

Yep, even on an enhanced check. If you are worried, why not apply for one yourself? You would have to pay - im sure its something like £40 or £60...
  • Hi

You can't apply for a CRB check on yourself - it must be done via a registered organisation likely to be your employer.

I think you can get a basic police check done yourself for £10. Just go to the police station with 2 forms of ID.

I don't think there will be anything on your Disclosure about the episode you described, but I think the CRB website suggests that people with concerns about what might come up call
