  • Well you pretty much have the food sorted, so may I suggest some after dinner games like, Tile my kitchen, or Plaster my bathroom. Or pick a room name from the hat, then clean it! Oh, endless fun for the relatives!

It could work out well for you! ;)

Unless your family are like mine, DIY usless! If thats the case, go for board games!

I'd casually ask the family if anyone has a portaloo or camping toilet they could lend you as you'll still be using a bucket until the bathroom's fixed:eek: .

(Just make sure you leave a bucket in the bathroom in case any family pop round in the meantime;) )

Mention that there's no heating and they'll have to watch they don't fall through the floor that isn't there and my guess is they'll be happy to wait until next year.

my aunty and her family have invited themselves for Christmas................... I am expecting them on Christmas eve

Hang on , does this mean they're staying overnight as well as expecting dinner.....

I'd be sorely tempted to tell them to s*d off as well....:D

'Sorry the house is upto its ears at the moment so we were actually hoping for an invite out ourselves.'

I would cope with the 'invited themselves' in normal circumstances, but not with the renovations. You will not enjoy Christmas if you allow this to happen.

  • Hi

I can understand how stressed you are.

How about suggesting going out for christmas dinner to a restaurant.? Everyone can pay for their own lunch then invite them back for the afternoon and tea.

For tea you can do a big buffet / finger foods which most u can prepare in advance.

Concentrate on the living room / dining room as this is where u will spend most your time.

If you think the dinner pout would go down very well the above tips from other posters are excellant.

    Good luck
