Is there any way we can move?

Hello,
I am currently a supply teacher (have been since Jan) and my partner works full-time (perm). I am hoping to start a PhD (no stipend) in September, and teach 20 hours per week on the side.
We are currently two years into our 5 year fixed rate mortgage and are wondering if there’s any way we would be able to move so we can be in the city I’ll be undertaking my PhD, or in the centre of the city we live now, close to transport links.
Would it be possible for us to move and buy somewhere else, considering my current job situation?
Or is it advisable to sell our house and rent? I don’t really want to step off the housing ladder. Would prefer to downsize.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Have you asked your lender if you can port the mortgage to another property?0

Not yet. What would we need to do? Undergo find a property, another suitability check, and then transfer?
Thanks!0 -
Just ring your lender and ask their advice.
I have no idea what their terms and conditions might be with whichever lender it is nor with your specific mortgage.
Ring now, they might still be there working in the call centre.
Have your mortgage details to hand...0 -
Where to start ?
We have No idea how much your home is worth or the mortgage owing on it.
You might be better speaking to a mortgage broker with all your details.
Partner,s income, savings, ages, Your income.
City you want to move to and costs of properties you like.
Rightmove might be a start0
