Remortgage with a default on my credit file?

We're looking to remortgage but my husband has a default on his credit file which was put on in 2014 and settled in 2016. Our credit ratings are both good otherwise. Are we likely to get accepted for a remortgage or is it not worth trying?

What do you mean by a remortgage?

If you are out of, or almost out of, a short-term deal then your own lender may give you a new deal for the same amount simply for asking.

If you want to shop around and consider other lenders then you are likely to need affordability checks, legal fees and a survey on your property.
