This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning everyone :hello:
The sun is just starting to come up and I think it is going to be a nice day today. I slept really well so I feel human finally. Thank you everyone for the lovely birthday wishes yesterday, I had such a great day and got really spoilt:D. I had lots of friends and family pop in to see me and my lovely cmht lady took me out. We went to Brewer's Fayre and instead of something sweet, we decided to share a few starters of chicken goujons, loaded wedges and cheese tart. It was delicious and my lady said she wished work could be like that every day :rotfl:.
I bought myself the soundtrack from 'the Greatest Showman' and have been playing it constantly since. I haven't seen the film but have ordered it to be delivered when it comes out. I can't wait, the music is amazing and I have been singing along. I love musicals and I think this one ticks all the boxes.
I don't know what to make for tea yet, I am going to have to go and dig around in the freezer for inspiration. I'm thinking something chickeny and we have loads of veg to use up as well. Maybe a traybake type thing, hmmm I'm just thinking aloud now.
Holly, thanks for starting us off. I hope you get some reassurance from the doctor today and you get to have your walk in the park xx
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light breezy wet underfoot with more laying water and it's still raining again.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, sausages, mash, carrots, peas, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires and gravy, ice cream for dessert. Tonight I'm not sure what we will be having as this afternoon I have to empty my fridge freezer as the replacement comes tomorrow and the existing one needs to be emptied and switched off, I have the small electric cooler already running in the dining room so will need to put the essentials in there and then MIL has a spare freezer that I'm going to fill from the freezer - hoping there's enough room between hers and my other freezer outside, fridge space is the issue as very limited, but it's only until tomorrow. I will be food shopping first thing Saturday morning, not ideal but new fridge/freezer should be in situ and working by then.
Work yesterday was another manic one, phones were ringing off the hooks, and the calls were stacked all day - but it did seem to improve in the last half hour but so many people saying they had been trying since Monday to get through being held up to an hour, or being held for 30-40 mins then being cut off etc! So they are not happy before they speak to us, can't blame them really. On days' off now.
So on to today -
I have a nail appointment this morning, so I'll be going into town to visit the bank and building society just before going for my nails appt. I have several jobs to do in the bank as I need to move some money about but shouldn't take long I'll have it all ready so it can just be moved from one a/c to another.
I'll need to crack on with the washing, drying and ironing, housework needs doing too.
Have a list, will just work through it - what doesn't get done today can wait until tomorrow as at present delivery slot is 7am to 7pm - they'll let me know a 3 hour slot later today - so I'm told anyway!
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I hope your drs appointment proves helpful. It's foggy and miserable here and I am looking forward to the forecasted heatwave next week!! Well one can hope!
You don't want to know what the lounge looks like now with the entire contents of the kitchen piled up. I have the fridge beside me with the mw on top and the kettle on top of that! I shall be leaving the blinds closed when we go in case someone looks in the window and thinks we live like this all the time!
The cases are packed for our little trip. Taxi to station about 11.30 and will shortly be packing a picnic for the journey. DD called yesterday with the 2 youngest DGDs. She showed us some photos of "Margot" in her stage make up - talk about looking grown up and she's only 9! She is all excited and has loved every minute of the rehearsals. Not so DD who is shattered with all the too-ing and fro-ing! There are 3 performances and we are going to the Sat evening one.
Mr TA far from well but he is adamant he is fit to go. I suspect he will spend a lot of time relaxing in the bedroom whilst we are out and about and just join us for meals. I got the result of my blood tests and x ray yesterday - I'll live for now but keep taking the tablets as the saying goes!
Porridge left out for breakfast and then must do a quick wipe round in the bathroom and vac up loads more bits. I'll be vaccing wallpaper bits up forever. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want. Take care and I'll be back with you after the w/end. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
What a wet and miserable day it is today. Cold too. Hope your all warmer than me and I'm still in bed. The heating has just come on so I'll wait till it warms the house up before I get up.
I slept well, the hounds slept well which is important as when they shuffle about I wake up too.
Trying to talk Youngest out of buying a second car...No it's not going in the garden and there's not enough room outside the house. He will need his own place at some point and although I'm in no rush for him to leave, I don't want to be cleaning up after him forever.
All quiet on the home front...just how I like it.
Onwards and forwards

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey. Sad to read that you had another poor night and I hope that your visit to the doctor will be helpful.
TA and nmlc, I don't envy the disruption but hopefully all will be sorted soon. When you come back TA you may find it easier to get rid of the stray tiny wallpaper scrapings, once they have dried out.
I had an odd day yesterday, starting with dropping a full half litre bottle of shampoo on my foot ( ow ow ow ) and then dropping my milk at work. It stayed sealed but when I put some in my tea, it had gone sour. I had to stand on a hill at 5 waiting for a bus that didn't come, half an hour in the rain and wind. At least I got sat on by a small and friendly Jack Russell terrier, that was my best bit.
I'm hoping for a day without incident today famous last words.
I've been having some migraine visual disturbances for a few days and now the headache has arrived. I am ok, I know people who have pulverising migraines and mine are nowhere as bad but still uncomfortable and oddly unsettling.
I need to eat something, get in the shower and get my arris out the door and off to work. Last day of the week for me. Dentist tomorrow, I've lost a temporary filling and fortunately tomorrow the proper one is to be done.
I have reached the stage at work where I'm just concentrating on getting everything done now, not long to go.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning
What a grey day
Did a "Holly" this morning and was awake just after 4  lots on my mind atm with the op being cancelled so I suspect its that. Went to bed at 10 so not too bad time wise really. See you are waking even earlier though Holly so hoping the trip to the GPs will put your mind a little bit at rest:)
Asda due to turn up any time in the next hour so will need to get that sorted. Haven't had a delivery for a while as I wasn't making the £40 minimum but I have friends for the weekend so needed extra stuff.
Lots of work to do today to prep for the up and coming events have a couple of Masterchefs to catch up on too so will attempt to combine the two.
Had some of the Indian left overs last night ....Tandoori mixed grill and nan breads ...was lip smackingly lush and there is still a portion left which is in the freezer so a tenner for the meal has become a real bargain will do that againToday I could do with eating a massive pile of veg and potatoes as I seem to have built a mountain up.
Have a good trip Mr and Mrs TA
AOD ouch ...poor foot
Have a good day all :A0 -
Good morning folks.
I've been sitting in bed watching the sea fret rise and the sun trying to burn off the clouds. Yesterday was a lovely day and I'm hopeful for another one today.
The chocolate cake I made yesterday needs to be filled and decorated this morning before I go down to DM's. A little bit of online banking has to be done too but that's about all for today. :j
Happy Thursday to all.0 -
Morning All
Dry this morning but a bit gloomy, I was hoping to put some washing out but we'll see.
Have a good trip TA, enjoy the performance.
Sounds like you had a good day dumpling.
Yesterday's funeral was very sad, the 7 year old grandson of our janitor. I was pleased to see a good turnout from school even though it is the holidays.
DD bought the bed from Ikea and we put it together no problem, the room is now finished and I even managed to put up a curtain pole which is at the far limit of my DIY abilities. It looks lovely, let's see if they can keep it tidy!
Nothing much planned for today, hoping to do some gardening if the weather stays ok.
Enjoy Thursday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Wet and horrid this morning dogs have been walked but they didn't seem too keen we walked yesterday afternoon for 2 hours as while we walked other walkers and their dogs joined us so we just kept walking as the dogs were all having a great time but boy was i shattered
Not much going on today so just a tootle round with the hoover .
I have decided with mum to wait till we have had our holiday in June to make a decision re invoking the enduring power of attorney
Hugs to all who need them and extra strength to those who need some
Have a great day whatever you are up to x0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly, I hope things improve for you soon. Belated birthday wishes Dumpling, hugs to all those in need.
Same old same old here, damp, drizzly, overcast, no sun going to the solar panels so not enough power in the batteries.
Hopefully we'll get a lie in tomorrow as 5:30 is too early for me until we see some sun.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
