Great!
thanks again for the input0 -
They even have 'Pokemon Roadshows',
we travelled some 65 miles to 'Peebo' to 'download a rare Pokemon' (whatever that means).
There were much older children than you would expect there .... late teens!
We have a wifi for the DS and son swaps Pokemons with children from around the world (however he does it).
There are always lots of Pokemon bits on freecycle too.0 -
have ordered some stuff from play.com - thanks judgejaq
can anyone tell me what the world championship 2007 decks are?0 -
Hey peanuts my son is Pokmon and yu-gi-oh daft he has literally thousands of cards now.The world Championship Decks are exact replicas of the ones used by the top players & Winners in the world tournaments my son has 2 of them and apparently they are decks you can use to play straight out of the box!!I find with buying pokemon ready made decks there is alot of doubles (they apparently make evolve to make better pokemons with better effects!!)My son loves the Pokemon tins you are getting in Game and Toys r us etc just now as thy have one rare card and about 5 booster packs in a collectible tin for around £10 the new tins are an oblong shape and are worth it as the booster packs are about £2.50-£3 each alone!!.Do you have a shop called Forbidden Planet near you we have one in Aberdeen and the staff are great, when my son started collecting i went there all the time as they sell the cards and know a fair bit about them(and they don't make you feel silly for not knowing:) )And they sell the folders with the clear pockets for storing the cards!Wh Smith usually have quite a good selection of decks/booster packs and for single cards i use Cardempire.co.uk there prices are good and the service is great!!:DThere is also a magazine called Pokemon World my son likes as it tells you all about the cards and new products etc.(Can't remember how often it comes though as i just collect all my son's mags once a month):)
I hope this has helped you a bit!:)You will soon be speaking about Pokemon like a pro with the rest of us demented mum's!:D Good Luck and if you need any other advice just ask!! xxThought for today:-

Thanks lynneand1
I have got the tins coming - are the championship decks different - i.e. will I get different cards?
I am getting quite into it - bet the kids will be onto something new by xmas xxxxxx0 -
Yes on the whole the decks will have different cards in them usually a mix of fire, water, earth pokemon's etc!All of which have different attributes but when combined become stronger(apparently)!:) The championship decks are usually good value for money as they have quite powerful cards in them and as i said are ready to play from the box!Th only thing that bothers me with pokemon decks that you don't get with yu-gi-oh is that there is alot of doubles that are apparently needed to play the game with maximum effect!I was thinking last night as well my son has alot of pokemon videos(easily available from charity shops)and a 3 dvd box set called pokemon chronicles which i got from HMV last xmas for around £15 and it runs for over 3 hours(great for some well deserved peace on xmas day):D The programme is on Sky during the week as well! But there is loads of dvd's/videos to be had if you don't have Sky!I also just bought my son the Pokemon annual from Waterstones!
Hope that helps for now!:DThought for today:-

I bow to your pokemon knowledge!!
LOL x0 -
My boy's used to be major pokemon freaks, and up until they released the 3rd movie I enjoyed it too (shameful, I know).
But the card's in my own opinion are a waste of money and although the kid's drive you crazy asking for them, the usual happens when you start trading card's. Arguments and fights!
You get the usual "so'n so has got my cards and won't give them back" and vice versa, it really does drive you mad.
I however found the simple solution, buy the games on the DS. No lost card's or theiving going on, no fights or arguments and peace will out!
But as for knowledge on pokemon, i had trouble keeping up with the 200 they originally started with... now 8 yrs down the line, i have no idea how many there are, and no way would I be able to remember their names.
The different versions or pokemon games you can get are: (in no specific order)
Red, Blue, Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Crystal, Silver, Leaf Green, Fire Red, Yellow, Pinball, Stadium 1 and 2, Trading card game, Mystery Dungeons, Snap, Puzzle League, Puzzle Challenge, Colosseum, Dash, Trezoi, Diamond, Pearl, Ranger, and Gale of Darkness
As for movies, I didn't realise until last weekend that there are actually 8. Not sue why the one on TV was named Pokemon 9, but according the official site, there are 8.
Pokemon - The First Movie, Pokemon 2000, Pokemon 3 - The Movie, Pokemon 4ever, (not sure about the order of the rest) Mewtwo Returns, Pokemon Heros, Pokemon Destiny Deoxys, Pokemon Jarachi Wishmaker.

Please give a little, it means a lot0 -
I have to confess that when my eldest first started collecting them - about 8 years ago now, I knew all their names, watched the movies with him and even played the card games (under duress I might add). I also bought him some expensive special cards (holograms, etc) Now he is 14 and still plays the games on his Wii. His younger brothers are now also fans and we have hundreds of cards which are regularly played with.
I think that although I agree with Saucy77 about the fights, on the other hand, the pleasure the children get from the cards far outweighs this IMO. We have had tremendous value from our cards over the 8 years or so. As they have come and gone in fashion over those 8 years, I think they will be around for a long time yet too.0
