Ditto! Not the first time a 'restaurant' has been caught doing the same. As a reductions groupie I've come across many a grocery shop/restaurant owner hovering up supermarket food reductions to do likewise...Free thinker.:cool:0

No way, you'll be telling us that pub landlords sell a glass of wine for £5 when you can actually buy a whole bottle in the supermarket for that next.0

I love the fact the woman said the camembert was "really nice" until they flipped over the lid & saw the Asda sticker! Amazingly enough from there the experience went downhill...Dwy galon, un dyhead,

It's often a lot cheaper for catering businesses to buy things from supermarkets than it is from wholesalers or specialist suppliers, especially if they're not buying huge quantities or they need something that supermarkets tend to flog as loss-leaders. The restaurant was a bit daft not to disguise what they'd done, but it's not unusual at all.0

I lost any sympathy I might have given her when I read that she didn't bother to say anything at all while still in the restaurant but instead took to the internet to complain. Also how does a restaurant "sneakily" add a servicer charge? Unless they printed it on tiny little letters at the bottom of the receipt what she actually means is that she didn't pay attention to the bill and only noticed it later0

...heating, lighting, public liability insurance, wages of staff other than waiters, staff pension contributions, staff training, staff holday/sick pay, rent, business rates,(perhaps corporation tax and advertising) ...
The difference between the cost of a tea bag, drop of milk, perhaps a little sugar, cup of water and the electricity to heat it and the price the customer pays for a cup of tea does not equal a profit but I bet the % mark up is greater than that of the cheese.0
