I'm with you on that seven2seven, could not give a toss what other people thought, especially ones in 'cyberland'. I did read the first 11 or 12 pages, then I lost the will to make it to the end, page one was about the best, after that it all got rather personal and descended into point scoring.........
I'm all for a good debate, but that 'discussion' was , to me, a waste of effort.
Dont see why 'us' BR have to try and justify ourselves at all. Each and every case is different and should be looked upon as such. There are many reasons, causes/scenarios for taking the BR route, right from the frivolous spenders, death, redundancy, to failed businesses, and all those in between
Its an emotive subject, especially if you have taken that route, 'we' know only too well all the soul searching, worry and stress , we had to go through wondering if its the right thing to do. ...............
So 'fellow BR's' hold your heads high, and keep on doing what your good at!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats, helping others, in a non judgemental fashion, who find their way here through desparation and fear :T and continue to ease those fears through your help and support and know that you are doing a good job:beer: And a HUGE
to those who sit in their 'ivory towers', may they never fall!! 0 -
I agree. Put 10 people with credit cards they can just about meet each month, & the odds are they all have different credit limits & owe different amounts on them. That doesn't mean they're doing any better than we are - they're just dealing with their problems a different way, & some may yet end up going BR anyway. Put 10 BRs in a room, & the odds are each of them ended up that way through different personal circumstances.
If I met any of those people expressing such judgemental views about BR, the chances are I'd have more to say than I'm allowed on this forum, but the chances also are that they wouldn't say as much in person. It's very easy to be brave with words from a keyboard, but it takes a totally different sort of courage to acknowledge your problems & do something about them, whether that 'something' be going BR or not.
If one good thing comes out of that thread, I hope it's that the more self-righteous amongst them keep a closer eye on their finances so that they don't have to eat their words & come back to MSE on our side of the fence.

And at times you make me worried about the state of humanity. Sometimes BH you offer helpful and useful advice, other times it seems you just want to kick people when they are down.:A

I read the first page of that thread and gave up - you can see just how it'll go. Like a poster on here has already said - it's easy to sit in your ivory tower and look down on other people. Not all people in debt or BR got there because they had a mania for buying shoes they couldn't afford.
Debt/BR can happen to any of us, all you need is a large mortgage, a deep recession and a job loss and suddenly things aren't quite as rosy in the garden.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
