Barclays mortgage application

Hi there

I just have a couple of questions regarding Barclays mortgage process.

Can anyone tell me what their policy is on length of employment? Eg will they lend when in a new job or does it have to be following probation? I am aware that it varies between lenders.

Also, we have received a letter from Barclays which just states 'Thank you for your recent mortgage application. We can confirm this application is now closed'. It does not give further information. The last update we had was last week when they said they were arranging valuation. Is this letter likely to be a decline?

Thanks

Probation is not an issue but do you have eighteen months continuous employment?

  • Hi there

Thank you for your response. This would be a case of continuous employment (going straight from old job into new job once notice period finished).

The other question regarding the letter doesn't need an answer now. Apparently this was for an old DIP, nothing to do with current application.

So do you think Barclays would still consider application with change of job? Permanent job with no change to salary. There is a 6 month probation period however.

    Thank you
  • Ps continuous employment history is longer than 18 months, no gaps in employment for many years

Your employment sounds like it should not be a problem for Barclays.

Whether your application with them will be successful is a broader question.
