help!!!
have just discovered my oh has put an oilring thingy that goes on a light bulb to hold essential oil, (stay with me)-upside down on the futon. there is thick residue on the dark red cover. any ideas on what might work to spot clean it?
i don't want to take all the colour out of the cotton cover, but the stain looks rather dubious, left as it is:eek:

Does the cover come off?
If not treat as for carpet eg sprinkle on flour or talc, leave a few hours then vacuum off. Blot with damp cloth sprinkled with eucalyptus oil.
If washable - run hot water through the stain, apply eucalyptus oil to absorb the grease and then wash as usual.

kitchen roll and an iron???
Not sure if it woukld work.. but it worked on the margarine on my bestest top!! a couple of sheets over the stain and ironed it.. the steam from the iron lifted the oil and the paper absorbed it.. Works on engine oil too!! AND anti-vandal paint!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Brown paper and a warm iron may help. I use this for candle wax on anything from clothing to carpets.Good manners cost nothing -Bad manners cost friends !Murphys No More Pies member #2130
