Wescot Credit Services...

Hi there, I'm new to the site but my boyfriend is a "vet" and has suggested i come on here as its really helpful.
Story is, in 2002 I had two credit cards (Goldfish & Mint) both with a £1000 limit, i maxed them out within a day or two and then buried my head in the sand hoping they'd go away. At the same time, i got into trouble wiht my bank (Halifax) and they closed my account.
Since 2002, I've been using my mums bank account to have my salary paid because I cant get a bank account anywhere. I've tried absolutley everywhere.
My boyf and I want to buy a house next year but obviously my credit is so bad its going to be difficult, so, I wanted to get myself free of my debt. I got my credit report and have found out that Wescot is one of the companies that is holding one of the credit card accounts. (havent tracked down the other one yet as there was no company name on my credit report?!).
I emailed them at the beginning of september and they promptly replied asking for my income and expenditure, i replied with all necessary details including my current address - everything. I didnt hear anything back and emailed another couple of times, got no response, so i bit the bullet and rang but couldnt get through for ages. Eventually i got through and they said they sent out all the necessary documents for me to start repaying them. I told them I hadnt received anything, and checked they had the right address, I then gave them my work address. They were surprisingly understanding, and said they'd resend the forms and reset the account (obviously i'd missed my first repayment).
I still havent received the forms. My boyfriend also raised a slightly worrying point that perhaps they arent actually handling the debt anymore?!
Can this happen??
I genuinely want to free myself of this debt and just want to start the repayments but its proving rather difficult.
Anybody out there with experience of dealings wiht Wescott?
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. And any advice on getting a bank account would be really helpful too! many thanks

I have dealt with wescott and they are very good, I always deal with debt collection companies by post. If you send them a statement of your income and expenditure and offer of payment letter you will probably find they will accept it.
I use the template letters and payment calculators, budget sheet off the national debthelpline website, they are easy to use and look professional so wescott will be used to seeing them.
I have a terrible credit history and got a current account with alliance and leicester I applied online not sure if that helps.0 -
Have you tried writing to the Original Creditor and telling them that, despite your many requests, you have not received the required documentation, from Westcot, in order for you to start your repayment plan?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi, I also used wescot, and I also found them to be very good, despite having no money they were willing to accept low amounts each month.
Try citibank or co-op, citibank accepted me and it still has debit card features.0 -

it is about accounts for people who are bankrupt, so you will not have problems. Just make sure it is a basic account that you request. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
