Going travelling around America from Wednesday for 3 weeks, so will be paying off my £350 likely tomorrow!
Will see you all on the 30th, and then 3 more weeks and this debt will be gone :-)
It's not been that fun for the readers and is probably quite boring, but maybe I'll carry it to help me save more money. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

£350 paid today, off to the airport now! See you all in 3 weeks.
£150 owed now, so I'm very close to being fully paid off! The only annoying thing is, this debt has been under £744 for like 3 months now and Barclays STILL haven't updated it on their system. All of my other open files are now settled, so hopefully, Barclays will do this once paid off or I'll give them a call in 2 months if they're still not updated it.
Looking forward to it! I get back in the UK in October, then I have 2 months and start my new job, things are looking up. Will start using this diary for my spendings and outgoings, because my next goal is to cut down my outgoings massively. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Home from my travels, gone quickly but really enjoyed it!
Managed to stick to my budget the whole holiday, without cheaping out on things.
Back to work tomorrow, and debt free in 3 weeks time. Also got word from my new job on my start date for December, so means I can hand in my notice in November - even better! Can't wait to leave my current job, I think this will make me the happiest I've been in a long time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Sleeping pattern is still messed up, 3:31AM and I'm making excel spreadsheets for budgeting and my savings goals.
Found out how to save money in the long term also today, I pay o2 £54.40 a month for an old iPhone contract which I no longer use, as I found o2 bad in my area (but unfortunately this didn't allow a cancellation as it's fine at my home address, but not where I work or where I spend the majority of my time - girlfriends).
But it's a refresh plan, I pay £25 a month for the device and £29.40 for the airtime plan. If I pay off the remaining balance of £250 for the device, I can walk away from the airtime plan with no cost to myself. I owe £543.40 to o2 so I'm going to take the £250 from my savings and pay off the plan then walk away...
Total saving: £293.40
Super happy with this, my fault for taking out such a large contract last year and I'm now with 3 on unlimited everything for £19 a month, and I just buy the device in cash. Not doing anything higher than £20 these days, definitely not in my new budgeting mindset.
Selling a few things like old trainers which I never wore, car parts etc to make up for that extra £250 I'll be losing.
On a personal note, missing my travels like crazy, it was immense! Me and my girlfriend were kind of rocky before, but now we've grown to realise how close we are and how much we appreciate each others company. So really happy with that, I keep going through our travelling photos and realising how much this debt thing means to me, because it's what's holding us back from buying a house. So if it means I need to budget like crazy to get us both where we want to be, I'll do it. She's all in, she has 10x what I have saved at the moment so I've got some catching up to do - very good with money lol.
BUT things to look forward to:- I start my new job in 104 days lol. Handing in my notice for my current job on November 28th, leaving my job on December 28th (month notice) and then having 2 weeks off before starting my new job. I am budgeting for this, but feel I would like to spend some time with my family (ie mum as she lives in Wales and I'm in London), so this is a non-negotiator for me. Can't wait to see her for 2 weeks, and can't wait to start my new job! It'll save me £150 a month as they're paying for my travel, and it's honestly my dream job.
Things are looking up, sorry for the long post! I'll keep you all updated as I go, promise. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
