Hi Everyone, first poster here.
Currently having some problems with PayPal. Won’t go into too much detail, but I currently have a negative balance with them (around £150). It has been like this for around a week or so. They have been constantly calling me maybe 3 or 4 times a day this week. I called back yesterday and they were quite agressive on the phone, and told me I have 7 days to pay the money back or else they will restrict my account and it may get passed on to debt collectors. I called because I cannot pay the balance until I get paid at the end of the month, but they wouldn’t wait that long.
Has anyone had this happen to them before? How long do they wait until it gets passed to a debt collector? I don’t want them turning up on my doorstep unannounced for £150 if you know what I mean, but would prefer to not leave myself short for the month.
Thanks everyone.
Dan

They could pass it at any time. Tomorrow, or two years or never.
Pay it at the earliest opportunity.0 -
This happened to me too due to a eBay issue (hate that company), but i sent email to the PayPal UK CEO and fully explained the problem, why i was in the red, and when i was able to pay it back (it was 3 weeks in my case). One of his staff replied and they was really understanding. They removed my phone numbers (to stop the calls) and added my phone numbers again when i made payment 3 weeks late.
Sometimes it helps to go right to the top, and explain things as fully as possible.0 -
Thanks for that. Do you have the email address, have done a quick search but can't find anything!0

I'm not sure if we are able to post email address on this forum or not. But if you google "paypal uk ceo email" and click on the first link it's there.0

Daniel relax,
Nothing will happen within 3 weeks.
No one will be knocking on your door, please do a little research on the debt collection process, it takes a long time.
Your best bet is to either write or email (do not phone them) tell them :
(A) when you are paid, and
(B) when you intend to settle the balance.
Then get on with your life, pay the debt on your payday, if its affordable, if not, pay it back in affordable installments, don't look for there acceptance, just tell them what you are doing and when, then do it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
